The Plan

This page should give you a general idea of where I plan on going with Gaast.

For You, Not Me

The first thing that I want to make very clear is that, while I really enjoy the work, I am not making this game for myself, I'm making it for others to enjoy.  I want to make this a game with a supportive community that drives the progress and content of the game.  I have a good idea of where the game mechanics and game world/story need to be, but as for general content and scenes, I would like for the folks that enjoy the game to get what they want.  This being the case, I really enjoy getting comments and feedback, even if you think it's inane.

Modding

The that end, I plan on making (at the very least) Events, Scenes, and saved games editable in a readable XML format for modders to create and modify.  I'll leave the technical idea out for now (although I would be glad to share them elsewhere, if there is interest).

Fetishes

I also want to keep an open mind for fetishes, and would like to say that I'll allow literally any fetish or sexual act to be added to the game (barring anything that may be illegal).  I understand that many people will not want to see certain fetishes or sex acts, so I am creating a system of tags for the events which will catalog the content you might see in a scene (e.g. scat, gay, lolita, etc) so that you can deselect tags that you do not want to see in your game, and events containing those tags will not be selected.

Finance

I would eventually like to make this my job, even if it is just part time, so if the game is well received I will eventually set up a payment or donation system (I'm thinking patreon).  I don't think I will ever charge people to play the game, but rather give extra bonuses and more influence on the games direction to supporters.

Open Source

I would eventually like to release the game's source code, allowing modders to do literally whatever they want with it.  Since I'm trying to make this my job though, I think I'd like to set a financial goal for the game, after which I'll release the source.  I also have a standard of playability, and I will not release the source code until I am happy that the game is relatively bug-free and has all the major functionality necessary to be an enjoyable game.

Openness

I want to be as transparent as possible with this project.  That includes things like my to-do list & bug lists, my timesheet, what I'm doing with the income (if there is any), and anything else people are curious about, really.  I'm using Asana to track tasks and bugs, and Google Drive for most of my documents.
